Today I attended the annual open day at The Haycop, a nature reserve in Broseley, Shropshire. It was a beautiful day, and very well attended by local residents as well as people from further afield.
Again, I took along my sand trays and symbols which attracted many children and adults – some children remained with me for a few hours at a time! As well as witnessing the worlds being created in the sand, I also spoke to local parents about children’s mental health, and the services that I am able to provide to support them and their families. It’s also a great way to build awareness of Play Therapy, something that still appears fairly unknown in Shropshire.
It was such a beautiful setting to work with sand trays, which made me even more determined to venture out into the pioneering world of Outdoor and Nature-based Play Therapy.
