Tamsyn Chafer-CookPlay & Creative Arts Therapy in Shropshire

The Therapy Space

The therapy room is a converted brick garage, and houses the play and creative arts therapy toolkit including sandtrays and symbols, musical instruments, art materials, puppets, therapeutic stories, games, a doll’s house, role play resources and construction play (e.g. Lego). There is a sofa with big cushions, a table and chairs, a large sink with hot and cold water and a composting toilet.

Play Therapy Room

The French doors open out into a large, contained, semi-wild outdoor space. Here you will find a play house, open grass and bark areas, a gazebo with chairs and tables, and a small area covered by conifer trees. Additional resources specifically for use outdoors are stored within this space including loose natural parts, ropes, bungees and pegs, large sheets and tarpaulins, spades, buckets, and pans. This outdoor space is quite private from a visual aspect, but noise, including conversation, may travel out of and into the space.

Outdoor Space

It is the child or young person’s choice how and when they use the different areas, with free flow access between the two. The outdoor space is available in all weathers except for high winds and lightning.
