What to expect…
A Play and Creative Arts session (usually):
lasts for 45 minutes
takes place once a week, at the same time and place
is part of a series of at least 12 sessions, but can be part of a much longer series
is led by the child or young person, supported by the therapist
is confidential between the child and therapist (except for safeguarding concerns)
makes use of a Play and Creative Arts toolkit.
The toolkit consists of:
a sand tray and miniatures known as symbols
art equipment including clay
puppets and masks
music and movement
therapeutic stories
creative visualisations and mindfulness
games
