Testimonials
“[My child] has grown so much and has managed to identify his emotions and now has strategies to manage those emotions. He has developed some key skills which is helping to move on from the difficulties he has faced. He has grown in confidence and maturity.
Tamsyn is an amazing play therapist. She creates a safe environment to allow children to understand what is happening with their emotions and create key skills to manage them. I highly recommend her.”

“I can’t believe how much [my child] has changed in such a short time. Thank you.”

“Tamsyn has been so calm and patient with [my child], allowing him to develop confidence in his own time, allowing him to feel control and empowerment over his fear. Thank you for helping me get the “real” [my child] back.
You need to somehow get the word out to schools that Play therapy is essential to children with fears/anxiety/mental health issues.”

“Tamsyn offers a plethora of techniques that can be adapted to meet the needs of any child. Now that Tamsyn has her own playroom, the work she was able to do could be adapted easily to meet the needs of the individual. Also it was now easier to separate school and play therapy so they could be given a very clear distinction.”

“I think Play Therapy is an absolutely invaluable service, and it does make a difference to the lives of the pupils we are working with. I struggle that we have to pick only a few learners to access the intervention and wish we had more funds available so that more learners would benefit from this wonderful service
The children in our service have often suffered considerable trauma and have such challenging behaviours and the service is invaluable in helping those with the greatest need but it needs time. Drop-in sessions have proved useful for some of our children who are not on a long term program.
Tamsyn places the children at the centre of everything she does; a wonderful practitioner.”

“The young people accessing the service enjoyed attending and, as many of our young people struggle to see the positive in many things, this in itself is a positive. Secondly the young people who access the service appear to be more relaxed and able to express themselves. Although the numbers are very low, and they also receive a great deal of support from ourselves and other agencies, I believe that the Creative Arts and Play Therapy has been a very positive experience for the young people. They report to being pleased about having somewhere to express their feelings and find the ‘play’ aspect relaxing and non-threatening. There is a need for more sessions for our young people as we only had 2 slots and there are 34 young people at this centre. It was hard to select who should have the opportunity and who could not!”

“I go to CAMHS and we sit and talk, but I’m not very good at talking about things. I’m a bit awkward. I prefer art and music. CAMHS told me I’m too old for play so I have to sit and talk, and they write down the things I say. I don’t like that”

“It takes me a long time to get used to people. Sometimes I’m nervous and don’t want to meet new people. I remember I didn’t want to come here to start with and ran off into the car park. I’m glad I finally came to see you!”

“Thank you very much for the work you have done with [my child] to raise his confidence, self-esteem and enable him to become a happier young man. He has really enjoyed his sessions with you and feels that he has come away with lots of tools and strategies to support him in times of anxiety or anger. [My child] is a much happier boy who now enjoys school and has an abundance of friends. We are really proud of him and are truly grateful for your input in supporting him through what has been a very tricky time over the past 12 months.”

“If you have a young person who is struggling with their emotions and finding it very difficult to manage their feelings and/or behaviour, Tamsyn’s Play Therapy sessions are invaluable. They provide a safe and secure environment for young people to be able to express themselves and the pupils who have accessed the service have not only enjoyed the sessions but have been able to express how the sessions have benefited them, one young person said “It has helped me to say things I have never been able to say before”. The young people who access the service appear to be more relaxed and able to express themselves…They report to being pleased about having somewhere to express their feelings and find the ‘play’ aspect relaxing and non-threatening. “

“Tamsyn has really helped our son, providing him with a safe environment to discuss his feelings. He looks forward to each session. Tamsyn made it fun meaning it was easier to open up about his worries. Definitely a positive experience for us and something we would use again if we needed to.”

“Excellent service, it has been a pleasure to talk to Tamsyn each week, very professional and flexible. All the children involved in the intervention engaged and gained something from it, e.g. a quiet space to build a trusting relationship with an adult. One child’s parents have commented on how they need to be more aware of their child’s emotions. Another child has opened up about past events at home (LAC child) and talks about how he feels. In school, a young child who was withdrawn is more confident in school! Your service has been recommended to other schools, PRU’s and in our EP group meetings.”

“Tamsyn came to work in my school with a very complex pupil for two terms. She worked very hard to ensure the pupil felt comfortable and happy to leave the room with her. Tamsyn responds to requests , e-mails and appointment requests quickly and efficiently. She worked in a room and always ensured it was clean and tidy afterwards. She is able to work miracles with even the most complex pupils where others have not succeeded. I would and do recommend her to everyone in need of her services.”

“I am sad that it is stopping. I’ve enjoyed it. It has been useful because it has changed my behaviour. But the last thing is that I’m glad that we’re celebrating the ending.”

“My son had a few issues that I wanted addressing and didn’t know who or how to deal with these issues. So did some research and found play therapy. So contacted Tamsyn, had a meeting to see what was expected what would happen.. My son had several sessions in his school environment and it helped him worked things through in his own time.. doing and saying what he needed to.. in a safe zone. Highly recommend you try this. If you are unsure have a meeting talk it through with Tamsyn and see how you feel. But children do learn from this kind of play and it does really help. Highly recommend Tamsyn. She’s friendly. Professional. Kind and listens. Please try.”
