Tamsyn Chafer-CookPlay & Creative Arts Therapy in Shropshire

Referral, Costs and Contract

If you know a child or young person who may benefit from Play and Creative Arts Therapy, you can make an initial enquiry via phone or email. You will be invited to a free-of-charge 20-minute phone consultation to establish whether Play and Creative Arts Therapy is appropriate for your child.

Following this, you will be invited to a face-to-face meeting to discuss your concerns, your hopes and aims, and the child/young person’s history. It will also be an opportunity for you to learn more about Play and Creative Arts Therapy and to ask any questions.

This initial face-to-face meeting will last up to 90 minutes. You will then be offered a second meeting where the therapist and child/young person first meet, initially with their parent/carer, and then 1:1 in the therapy space for around 20 minutes.

If necessary, meetings will also take place between the therapist and other organisations working with the family, including schools.

After these meetings, a decision will be made between the therapist, parent/carer and child/young person as to whether Play and Creative Arts Therapy is likely to be the way forward, and when these sessions will start. An agreement will need to be signed at this point, and written parental consent will be required. There is a charge of £40-70 for this initial assessment period.

Session costs:

Each session will cost between £50 and £65, and lasts for 45 minutes.

There are also a limited number of concession places available for low income families which can be discussed at the initial meeting.
